THE STORY
*Operation Survival* was forged in bomb shelters and border crossings. The author spent many a day and night talking to those struggling to survive in these circumstances. Mothers who still planted sunflowers in rubble or took the time to find abandoned cats and provide them shelter and new homes. From their fire rose Liliya—scarred, sleepless, sunrise-obsessed. Every ray on this shirt is a line from her survival.
